Whether you want to participate with Gravel bike or go with MTB bike on a leisurely tour, it’s up to you. Here, it’s all about the journey and enjoyment, not the speed. Take time to chat, ride the gravel and relish every moment. Get ready to tantalize your taste buds! We’re all about unique experiences, and you can expect to indulge in regional delights.

This cycling route takes you through beautiful landscapes, starting from the Blidinje SKI Center to the stećak necropolis in Risovac. It then goes to the UNESCO-protected necropolis of Dugo Polje. The entire time, it passes through the center of the Blidinje Nature Park, offering excellent views of Vran and Čvrsnica, and, to a large extent, Blidinje Lake and Risovac.

The tour starts from the Blidinje SKI Center through the tourist settlement and the area with a large number of beautiful weekend houses, leading to the asphalt road (regional road R419), continuing further to the Stećak Necropolis in Risovac. Next to the stećaks is the old church in Risovac, and a little earlier, along the road, you can see the new large church. From these stećaks to those named Dugo Polje, you pass through the Risovac field adorned with cultivated meadows and small green hills, giving the entire tour a special atmosphere where you feel like you’re on a lower plateau, not in the area of high mountains. After visiting the Stećak Necropolis of Dugo Polje, which is also under UNESCO protection and counts as many as 150 stećaks, the tour continues on the asphalt road through the central part of Blidinje.

On the long asphalt road towards Blidinje Lake, the views in any direction will leave you with the impression that Blidinje Nature Park is truly a place of unseen beauty. Upon reaching the lake, there is enjoyment and relaxation with the gentle sounds of its turbulent water swayed by a gentle mountain breeze. After the lake, it is necessary to cross along the edge of Dugo Polje towards the forests of Boričevac, and through the gravel road and the tall pine trees, you exit onto the asphalt road to Masna Luka. Passing by the administrative building of the Blidinje Nature Park, you continue straight and descend into Masna Luka, where you can explore the Church of St. Elijah.

After visiting the church and the Franciscan house of prayers, this cycling tour goes through the beautiful landscapes of Badnja and Ivan Dolac, offering an excellent view of the high slopes of Čvrsnica looming over Masna Luka and the Ski Slope. Passing through Ivan Dolac and the area with a large number of beautiful weekend houses, you come back to the starting point where this tour concludes.

A joint lunch follows in front of the SKI Slope restaurant, and then there is a break until the start of the presentation of the National Teams of 12 countries participating in the Balkan Championship, followed by a party for all event participants.

The Marathon, the sporting highlight of the festival, guarantees fun and excitement. Choose from two thrilling routes with distinct characters and relish your adventure!

The Marathon, the sporting highlight of the festival, guarantees fun and excitement. Choose from two thrilling routes with distinct characters and relish your adventure!

Experience the adrenaline rush, and enjoy the race. The marathon kicks off on July 14, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the scenic Blidinje SKI center.
Get ready for the adventure!

Immediately after the race starts in front of the Blidinje SKI Center, riders will embark on a fast descent and ride through the Tourist Settlement Risovac. They will then exit onto the main road, turning right towards the Risovac settlement. This section is quite fast, and we believe riders will maintain a strong pace, experiencing some fast rides. At the 5th kilometer in the Lagumovići settlement, or at the famous Sovića Vrata, riders descend onto a gravel section, and the first serious ascents follow, leading towards the Gornji Gvozdac and Diva Grabovčeva.

At the 11th kilometer, the first descent follows after the ascent, where the riders will take a short break and gather strength, while also starting the ride around the magnificent Vran. They will experience a ride through the picturesque forest of Mount Vran for about 10km, then exit onto a wide gravel road, from where they will descend towards Tomislavgrad.

At the 28th kilometer, the distinction between the large and small marathon is made! Riders of the large marathon at the 28th kilometer continue straight, while riders of the small marathon turn into the forest, taking a shorter route towards the regional road leading to Blidinje Lake. However, there is no need to worry about intersections and constantly check your Garmin device for mileage because there will be a marshal at each of these intersections redirecting you and ensuring that shortcuts are not taken, or simply a visual marker on the track where shortcuts are not possible.

At the 32nd kilometer, you cross the Blidinje road (regional road) where vehicle traffic is possible, so be cautious even though there will be marshals at that location. At this point, riders of the small marathon turn left, riding on a bicycle path along the regional road, leading to Blidinje Lake. As you approach the lake, beautiful views await you.

At the 39th kilometer, you turn right into the field, where you ride about 2km through the field, then enter the Varićak grove and continue riding towards Masna Luka. However, you do not go directly to Masna Luka but continue towards the settlements of Donje Badnje and Gornje Badnje, and towards the tourist settlement near the Blidinje SKI Center. Entering the tourist settlement signifies that you need to accelerate and give it your all to achieve the best placement, as it is also a sign that you are entering the final meters of the track, and the finish line is just around the corner.

XCM Balkan Championship

The Marathon, the sporting highlight of the festival, guarantees fun and excitement. Choose from two thrilling routes with distinct characters and relish your adventure!

The Marathon, the sporting highlight of the festival, guarantees fun and excitement. Choose from two thrilling routes with distinct characters and relish your adventure!

Collect UCI points, experience the adrenaline rush, and enjoy the race.

At the 11th kilometer, the first descent follows after the ascent, where riders will take a short break and gather strength, while also starting the ride around the magnificent Vran. They will experience a ride through the picturesque forest of Mount Vran for about 10 km, then exit onto a wide gravel road, from where they will descend towards Tomislavgrad. However, they won’t reach Tomislavgrad because at the 30th kilometer, they turn left again into the forests of Mount Vran, starting a new serious ascent that, in some places, will have inclines of more than 10%, and it will last for about 4.50 km.

At the 38th kilometer, you cross the Blidinje road (regional road) where vehicle traffic is possible, so be cautious even though there will be marshals at that location. Then you enter the field and the Mučinovac forest, which comes halfway, and where the first reassessments of the strength spent and the remaining kilometers to the finish line will start. 🙂

Then, at the 50th kilometer, a beautiful sight appears when you see Blidinje Lake, and the track descends through the last sections of the Mučinovac forest. However, the happiness won’t last long because at the 54th kilometer, you start a new ascent and a new section to overcome. What is positive about this section is that, while expending energy on the final ascents, the beautiful sight and view of Blidinje Lake will always accompany you.

The ascent won’t last long because at the 62nd kilometer, there is a descent towards Blidinje Lake and the Barzonja settlement. Here, you usually have groups of fans and marshals cheering and supporting you on the way to the last kilometers. The ride alongside the beautiful Blidinje Lake will further encourage you and give you strength. There’s also a picturesque section towards Masna Luka, one of the most beautiful destinations in Blidinje Nature Park. From Masna Luka, there’s a final ascent that won’t have significant inclines, but since you’re already tired, you’ll certainly feel it and draw the last bits of strength from your legs. Entering the tourist settlement signifies that you need to accelerate and give it your all to achieve the best placement, as it is also a sign that you are entering the final meters of the track, and the finish line is just around the corner.
